Another day of great hiking weather, many ups and downs, and beautiful green views! Our taxi driver from yesterday picked up the four of us at 9:15 and zipped us along on the 30-minute ride back to where we finished walking yesterday. David stayed at The Sportsman Inn with the plan of spending the day reading, watching tv, and napping in order to give his knee a rest.

Looking back partway up the hill. You can see the hill we came down yesterday.

As I expected, the climb that looked so daunting yesterday afternoon was long but easy as we all took it at our own pace. John and June are faster walkers than Nancy and I, so they are often out front. Nancy and I mosey along and catch up to them every so often.

Once up on Graffham Down, we passed by several barrows, or burial mounds, from the Bronze Age. (4000-5000 years ago.) The signboard said the graves were covered with chalk and could have been seen from miles away.

Nancy on a bell barrow. It is different from the other bowl barrows because it is ringed by a ditch.
